Fees and Deposits
Advanced Placement
- Enrolling in and receiving credit for an Advanced Placement course:
- At the start of each AP course, a student must pay within the first 10 days, the $30.00 exam fee or the student will be removed from the course.
- This fee is non-refundable.
- To receive credit for an AP course the student must
- Write the AP College Board final exam in May
- Complete the course by the end of the final term and meet all the work/assignment requirements as set by the subject teacher.
- A student who does not meet these requirements will not receive any credit for the AP course or a regular provincially authorized course.
External Credit Exam Fee
- AP Exams [first exam] $30.00
- AP Exam [second exam and other exams] $20.00
Graduation Fees - $80.00
- Includes:
- Valedictory Ceremony including rental of facilities
- Momento Cap & Souvenir Tassel
- 5x7 picture and certificate
- Rental of Gown & Stole
- 5 tickets for the Valedictory Ceremony
- Excludes: Validictory Prom/Grad Dance at Civic Center $15.00 each [Guest $15.00]
Deposits
- Deposits are required and are refundable upon return of the text or calculator
- Math 11 & 12 Calculator $130.00
- Non-refundable Rental Fee $10.00
- Cheques for calculators will not be deposited unless the calculator is damaged or lost
- Deposits are required and are refundable upon return of the Tool Tags
- Automotive 11 & 12 Tool Tags $40.00
- There are no required fees for any elementary or secondary courses.
- Secondary students who choose a project beyond the learning outcomes of the course may supply their own materials or may be charged for materials used to complete that project [e.g. type of wood chosen for woodwork project]
Optional Charges
- Student Services $10.00
- Helps defray the expenses for such student activities as student council, motivational speakers, dances, cultural events, clubs, sports & teams etc.
- Students choosing to participate in these activities are expected to pay this charge.
- Mailing Fee $7.00
- Defrays the cost of production and mailing of the school's monthly newsletter.
- When more than one family member attends PGSS, the oldest only should pay this fee.
- Provide us with your e-mail address to have this fee waived.
- Yearbook $40
- This is the school "annual" that the students may purchase.
- $40 includes free name engraving
- Other Optional Charges
- Some courses have optional charges relating to field trip expenses, project materials, etc.
- Students should obtain details from subject teachers.
- Students who choose not to participate will be assigned a project or activity that will ensure that the prescribed learning outcomes are met.
Optional charges should be paid during the first week of school or not later than the date stipulated.
- Make cheques payable to PGSS.
- Receipts will be issued and should be retained as proof of payment.
- Please note that no student will be denied access to school-based educational activities because of financial hardship.
- If payment cannot be made, parents are requested to contact Ms Brade, Business Manager prior to the payment due date.
